Toraja Land: “Discovered” and opened to the world from their long isolation only since the beginning of the last century, the Toraja today still adhere to their age-old beliefs, rituals and traditions, although many of the people are modernized or have embraced Christianity.
Tana Toraja Highlands are impressing its vistors with the spectacular beauty of nature. At the same time visitors can experience how communities have through ages sustained their original beliefs and traditions in splendid isolation. This unique culture became very famous in Indonesia and is a must for tourists to discover and experience.

Day 1 :  Denpasar - Makassar (B/L/D)

On arrival at Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar,  our english speaking guide will pick you up and will take you to Makassar city. During the city tour you visit the old fortress of Rotterdam, built by 9th king of Gowa, and the old Buginese harbour in Paotere. Lunch at local restaurant. Dinner at local seafood restaurant and overnight in Hotel Pantai Gapura.

Day 2: Makassar - Bira (B/L/D)

Today after breakfast you start the trip to Bira, which is about 180 km away from Makassar. On the way you will visit Balla Lompoa in Sungguminasa. It was the palace of the former Gowa Kingdom. Lunch will be provided en route. In the afternoon you stop to visit Tanaberu, a small village where the orginal Pinisi boats and other typical Bugis and Makassar ships are being built. Afterwards continue to Bira. Dinner and overnight at Anda Beach Hotel. 

Day 3: Bira - Sinjai – Bone - Sengkang (B/L/D)

In the morning you will drive to Sengkangvia Sinjai and Bone (Some photo stops on the way). Lunch will be provided enroute. In the afternoon you arrive in Sengkang and visit the Tempe Lake. Here a local fisher boat takes you around to see floating houses in the middle of the lake. Dinner at a local restarant and overnight in Pondok Eka Hotel.

Day 4: Sengkang – Palopo - Toraja (B/L/D)

After breakfast you depart to Toraja via Siwa and Palopo. (Some photo stops on the way). In Puncak Palopo we stop for coffee / tea while enjoying a nice panoramic view of mountain areas. Lunch will be taken enroute at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will arrive in Toraja. Dnner and Overnight at Misiliana Hotel.

Day 5: Toraja Tour  (B/L/D)

Today you will discover and experience the unique culture and the beautiful nature by visiting Lemo with its stone graves and Londa village, with old coffins and Tau-tau puppets in cave graves. In Sangalla you can see an old tree used as grave for babies Babygrave. There you will gain an insight of the local beliefs and traditions based on the animism. In the afternoon you drive to Kete kesu, a village with typical Toraja houses and ricebarns. It represents also the structure of social and political life in Toraja. Afterwards you return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight Misiliana Hotel.

Day 6: Toraja Tour (B/L/D)

In the morning you drive to Pallawa, an old village with many torajan houses and ricebarns, get another impression of this unique culture. After that you proceed to Batutumonga to see the wonderful panorama of rice terraces. Lunch at local restaurant. After a soft trekking tour in the afternoon you will return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Misiliana Hotel.

Day 7: Toraja - Parepare - Airport Makassar (B/L/-)

After having breakfast you are leaving from Misiliana Hotel via Enrekang and Parepare back to Makassar. After a stop at Bambapuang to see a mountain area with nice landscape yo will have lunch in Parepare. In the afternoon you arrive at Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar and take your flight to your nest destination.

What to bring:
